Psychotherapy and body-based healing
Julia von Briesen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Charlottesville-based psychotherapist with a dual master’s degree in Social Work and Public Health from Virginia Commonwealth University. She trained with Janet Evergreen in cranio-sacral therapy and vagal therapy, used to support health and mind/body balance, as well as release trauma in the body. She also completed a two-year training program, developed by Myrna Martin, called Pre- and Perinatal Developmental Trauma Treatment, taught by Janet Evergreen and Tonya Ridings, LCSW.
Additionally, Julia is trained in EMDR, and currently serves children and teens in community mental health, with a focus on treatment of trauma, depression, and anxiety. She is passionate about supporting individuals in developing their full self-expression, and actively seeks to create a safe and nurturing practice to support BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. She is also an active volunteer clinician with the EMDR-based Virginia Community Response Network. She uses the power of lifestyle choices and community support to foster health for the folks she works with and welcomes the paradox of life being at once hard and beautiful. She herself loves playing outside (especially with her dog), laughter, music and small doses of ice cream.
Julia accepts in-person and tele-health referrals for teenagers and adults who are experiencing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or situational stressors. Her hourly rate is $150 and offers need-based sliding-scale payment options. She will happily complete a 15 minute free discovery call to find out if she might be the right fit for you!
